Chimborazo Appears
Saying goodby to friends in Riobamba...
A sweet tasty fruit with cheese.
Delicious tender goat meat with rice and avacado.
Finally, on our last morning in Riobamba, the awesome Chimborazo appears above the clouds. Looks like we may get to see more of it today, maybe. Today, we are going south to see some lakes and then north to Ambato. Then early tomorrow morning, we leave for Quito and our trip home. Looking forward to celebrating Easter with family and friends in Pennsylvania.

Enjoying the Village of Guano with Frank's Parents
We had an enjoyable Thursday morning visiting a local village, Guano, with Frank's parents. As we waited for the bus to leave, I took this photo of someone cutting sugar cane.
A beautiful tree sculpture in the center square welcomes you to Guano.
Another beautify park and church.
Judy is waiting to fly away on this helicopter.
We learned something new - avacados grow on trees. Here is an avacado tree.

Closeup of the avacados. Avacodos have become one of my favorite foods.
It must have been wash day...
Guano is known for its hand-woven rugs. Here is a statute welcoming you to Guano - she is weaving a rug.
Beginning the climb up the hill next to Guano.
Half way up, we came across this large stone carving of a fish.

A little further up, we admire another ancient stone carving...
Frank's parents near the top of the climb - overlooking Guano.
Resting at the bottom...
An old church and ruins in which a mummy was found. We visited a museum about the history of Guano and we saw the mummy of a monk thought to be about 500 years old.
Walking toward the bus to go back to Riobamba.
It is now 1:15 and Judy and Frank's mother are making lunch. Janelle and Frank should arrive home for lunch in the next few minutes. Only one more day in Ecuador, and then the journey home on Saturday. Hope all the peas, lettuce, spinach, cilantro, and other herbs that we planted before we left are growing.
