NEW UNDERSTANDING OF RISK AND DANGER

How one defines safety and risk depends on where you live. How about setting off fireworks inside a crowded arena with people running for safety? Or consider the wall of the rodeo arena lined with youth –who repeatedly climb up the wall and hang on whenever a raging bull approaches.

Or the horse ridden by a young boy that suddenly rears on his hind legs right behind us in a crowded walkway. Or the bull that goes wild in the midst of a crowded marketplace.

Or attempting to cross the street when a speeding car comes out of nowhere blowing its horn. Or driving up a two-lane mountain highway with a slow truck in front of you and a curve ahead of you, but passing cars insist on making a third lane in the middle to pass.

In adjusting to cultural differences, one always wrestles with balancing wisdom, common sense, and trust in God.
